Week 14
It’s the final regular season matchup for the fantasy schedule. If you’re here, congrats! Because that most likely means you’re still fighting. We aim to include players under a 50% rostership threshold to help you get ahead before a player truly has THAT game that makes them the must add in the near future.
Quarterbacks
Tyler Shough, 24% rostered, Saints
Shough is officially on the radar after stringing two solid performances back to back. Granted, they were against Atlanta and Miami. I would caution just a little bit with the Saints heading to Tampa Bay in week 14. They’re only ranked 27th against the pass but these divisional games can get wild and you never know when they’re on the road. That being said, I would fully expect the Saints to be in a position to where they’ll need to pass (per usual).
Tyrod Taylor, 10% rostered, Jets
My team has been desperate and alternating between Mariota and Taylor has me still alive. Given a choice between the two, I’ll take Taylor against Miami in Week 14 and he’ll get Jacksonville the following week if you need him. The passing stats are fine and he’s adding a little something on the ground to give a nice boost to his numbers.
Running Backs
Malik Davis, 2% rostered, Cowboys
Call this speculative. Davis showed some extreme burst on Thanksgiving and has been slowly seeing his playtime increase over the last several weeks. I would not play him, but he could be a premier handcuff should anything go wrong with Javonte. He’s a back capable of creating a big play any time he touches the ball.
Blake Corum, 39%, Rams
If he’s still available, go get him. We’ve been slow to jump on this train but it’s obvious now that Corum has gained some trust with the Rams coaching staff and is receiving more carries and has been very productive with them since the bye week. Corum is at a healthy 4.7 ypc and is coming off the most productive day of his career with 81 yards and a touchdown.
Chris Rodriguez, 46%, Commanders
I’m surprised to see his ownership still under 50% as he’s been getting a decent chunk of work for the Commanders. It’s a three way split between Rodriguez, McNichols and little Bill. However, Rodriguez gets the important carries when they’re in the redzone accounting for over 50% of the workload and cashing that in for three touchdowns.
Honorary mentions: Devin Singletary, Jaleel McLaughlin
Wide Receivers
Adonai Mitchell, 5% rostered, Jets
We’ve been suggesting this one for a few weeks and if you got ahead of it, you were able to cash in on this. If not, no worries, because he’s still more than likely available in your league. Tyrod Taylor isn’t the sexiest name for a player in your lineup to be catching passes from, but it’s significantly better than Justin Fields. Couple that with Garrett Wilson still not expected to be back and you’ve got a high volume guy in an offense constantly searching for points. The former second round pick had a team leading 12 targets and is getting comfortable with the Jets playcalling.
Devaughn Vele, 1% rostered, Saints
Consider this more of a speculative add if there’s not much else available. The Saints liked Vele enough to send a 4th round pick for him over the Summer but he hasn’t seen much playing time. He had an uptick in volume in week 12 with 7 targets and received 8 targets against Miami while converting one of those to a touchdown. New Orleans doesn’t have much depth and provided they paid up for him, he’ll more than likely see the field more on a team that’s constantly drawing up pass plays.
Isaac TeSlaa, 5% rostered, Lions
Amon-Ra St. Brown sustained an ankle injury and didn’t return in the Thanksgiving game against Green Bay. Current reports indicate that he may not miss more than a week, so this pickup will be short lived. TeSlaa also hasn’t had much production in his limited playing time. His snap percentage has been sub 50% all season but jumped up to 94% while filling in for St. Brown. TeSlaa’s knack for big time grabs makes him an interesting add in the Lions offense that’s short on weapons.
Dontayvion Wicks, 3% rostered, Packers
Your guess is as good as mine for who Jordan Love will choose as his go to guy on any given week. With snap percentages near the 50% mark, Wicks is well under Doubs and Watson but finished third right behind that duo. While we can’t ignore his two touchdown Thanksgiving performance, we must be aware that Golden and Reed do have a chance to return in week 14 which would greatly alter the opportunities for Wicks.
Tight Ends
Gunnar Helm, 2% rostered, Titans
No, it wasn’t the follow up that we wanted but he still earned SEVEN targets. I’d be a little nervous about the upcoming matchup vs Cleveland. George Kittle just had a decent outing against them but Helm is no Kittle at this stage of his career. It would be quite the desperation play but Helm has earned the attention of his young QB.
Brenton Strange, 40% rostered, Jaguars
Everyone is in on Strange, and I get it. I try not to include players on this list that I believe are already rostered but his ownership is still rather low. Especially when you consider his numbers the last few weeks. If I have a choice between Helm and Strange, I’m going with the guy getting targets from Trevor Lawrence and not facing the Browns defense in week 14.
