Week 13

All the week 13 names you need to know. Let’s keep it short and sweet!

Quarterbacks

Cam Ward – 14% rostered, Titans

Ward has strung together a couple good games in a row and we’re seeing some of the Titans’ weapons begin to get some love. I would only go here if you’re truly out of options as the upcoming schedule could have a few tough ones including a trip to Cleveland and a week 16 matchup with Kansas City. Ward could be a decent play in week 13 vs the Jags.

Shedeur Sanders – 14% rostered, Browns

It wasn’t the best start from a fantasy perspective but first career starts can be incredibly difficult. The important takeaway is that Sanders played well enough to earn the start for week 13. It can take rookie quarterbacks half to a whole season before they find themselves. If you’re picking up a quarterback, you more than likely need someone to slot in right here and now. If given the choice, I’d probably lean Ward as he has most of his “rookie games” out of the way and has seemed to turn the corner.

Running Backs

Devin Neal –  12% rostered, Saints

With Alvin Kamara now out with a knee injury, New Orleans has a serious running back problem. Proceed with caution because the Saints aren’t a very good football team. And even with all the injuries, Taysom Hill is now back and healthy which means he’s always likely to vulture some carries. The Saints find themselves in a lot of negative game scripts but get a juicy matchup in week 13 against the lowly Dolphins rush defense

Dylan Sampson – 13% rostered, Browns

Sampson received his most carries since week 1 with 7 and got to show a bit of what he could do in the passing game again when he hit the endzone. Shedeur Sanders found him a few times including a spectacular 66 yard touchdown reception. Don’t get it twisted, the backfield belongs to Judkins, but this is a team that LOVES to run and now has a QB who isn’t afraid to dump it off and let his playmakers do the work.

Wide Receivers

John Metchie III – 1% rostered, Jets

Tyrod Taylor stepping in immediately made this look like an NFL offense again. Metchie tied with Adonai Mitchell for the team lead in targets but he was the only one to do anything with them by  bringing in 6 for 65 and a touchdown. With Taylor looking to lead this team moving forward, Metchie could be a solid play as the Jets will be in passing situations nearly every week.

Luther Burden III – 26% rostered, Bears

Burden has seen not only his rostership grow over the last few weeks but also his usage in the Bears offense. We see him grow a little more each week and this might be the time to strike if your league mates haven’t been stashing him already. DJ Moore was the big winner for Chicago against the Steelers, but he’s been inconsistent week to week and has been known to vanish. Burden is pushing for more playing time in a crowded room and has grown to consistently see roughly 50% of the snaps since week 10.

Darnell Mooney – 53% rostered, Falcons

Mooney may not be available if your league saw this coming with the change at quarterback. We should see this offense look much better as Kirk grows more comfortable with starting once again. Mooney only saw three targets but he made every one of them count and converted one to a touchdown. Kirk and Mooney ate last year before the QB change in 2024 got right back to their efficient ways. Add in that Drake London missed week 12 and may miss week 13 and you should have a decent play here.

Jayden Higgins – 26% rostered, Texans

Higgins is another name that has been earning playing time and has started to cash that in for solid production earning 9 targets against the Bills on TNF. While he only converted those to 4 receptions and a score, there was clearly opportunity for more and he’s become a reliable target in this offense. This is the time where rookies start taking that leap towards more production and Higgins appears to be no exception. CJ Stroud might return in week 13 which might alter the trajectory a little bit as Davis Mills has been the one feeding him. But if he’s available, I’d definitely take that chance.

Isaiah Hodgins – 2% rostered, Giants

That’s two productive weeks in a row now for Hodgins. 12 targets over the last two weeks. If you didn’t believe he could help you out last week, you should now. The Jameis Winston offense has been humming and provided an uptick in production for many guys. We’ll see if Winston gets the start in week 13 or if Dart returns to the lineup. Regardless, with this team out of contention, guys like Hodgins are going to be given a look to see if they’ll be part of the future.

Greg Dortch – 9% rostered, Cardinals

If you missed out on Michael Wilson, you might still have a chance to get in on this Brissett led offense. Arizona is throwing the ball at an insane rate with 44 or more attempts over the last three weeks. Dortch has been a big part of the passing game success with Marvin Harrison sideline as he racked up 6 grabs for 53 yards and a score on 9 targets. As long as Harrison is out, Dortch is a great flex play.

Tight Ends

Gunnar Helm – 2% rostered, Titans

How desperate are you? The Titans offense is slowly rounding into.. A form. I don’t want to say too many positives but they’re looking much more competent as of late. Helm received a season high 7 targets and was able to convert that for 6 grabs. If you’re just looking for a player to not give you a goose egg, Helm has turned into that guy with an opportunity for more as this offense continues to develop.
