Tua’s Ova-cooked, Allen Eats
September 20, 2025
The Thursday Night matchup featured what many thought would be a snoozer between the Bills and Dolphins but turned out remaining interesting well into the 4th quarter. The sputtering Dolphins were given no chance, but that’s the thing about rivalry games, you throw out the records and play the game. They’ll more often than not end up closer than you think, especially on a short week.
Miami took the opening possession and marched all the way downfield over six and a half minutes to punch it into the endzone with their rookie runner Ollie Gordon. The ball control and ability to churn out first downs was impressive, considering all the negativity surrounding this team as of late. Josh Allen got the ball and immediately reminded the Dolphins who runs this division, connecting with Dalton Kincaid for a few big grabs including one phenomenal catch leading to the game tying touchdown.
The Bills defense would then do the expected and shut down the Dolphins for the next few possessions while Josh Allen worked on extending the lead through a beautiful little flip pass to his tight end, Hawes. A missed field goal by Prater opened the door for Tua to lead the Dolphins to a touchdown before half and he did just that, connecting with Jaylen Waddle in the endzone and taking a 14-14 score into the locker room.
The second half is where the 2025 Dolphins came back out. Too many silly, undisciplined penalties allowed for the Bills to be gifted first downs. Josh Allen is too talented. He’ll dice you up or take off and run you over. If you have them on the field to punt, be thankful you stopped him, don’t rough the punter like they did in the 4th quarter. There was one drive early into the 4th where Tua got back into rhythm and was slicing and dicing the Bills secondary, eventually ending the drive in the endzone bringing it to 21 all. Once Allen got the ball back on the roughing the punter penalty, he put the Dolphins away for good. The following possession had Tua oddly force feeding Waddle which worked until he stared him down, making for an easy turnover that sealed their fate.
The Dolphins certainly played better than expected Thursday, especially when you factor in that they were playing in Buffalo. However, they’ll earn no moral victories and will fall to 1-2 which will make everyone’s seat a little bit hotter in Miami.
