Sanders Shines, But Browns Still Gonna Browns

December 8, 2025

The Cleveland Browns rode the momentum of a 300-yard day from Shedeur Sanders, but eventually fell to the lowly Tennessee Titans, 31-29.

In a battle of what many considered the top two quarterbacks in the NFL draft, the storyline was always going to be Cam Ward vs. Sanders. I’ll be the first to admit, I am not the biggest Sanders fan; I think he hangs onto the ball, makes questionable decisions, and often puts himself and the ball into harm’s way. Sanders was efficient, but it was too little, too late for the Browns, who fall to 3-10 on the year.

Sanders had four total touchdowns (three passing, one rushing), and Ward had two passing touchdowns, but the difference in the game was the defenses’ ability to stop the run. Titans running back Tony Pollard ran roughshod over the Browns defense, 25 carries for 161 yards and two touchdowns.

Both teams have been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, and are now playing for the highest draft pick. Tennessee will more than likely go for a receiver like Jordyn Tyson from Arizona State, or Makai Lemon from USC. Cleveland desperately needs offensive linemen. Shedeur was running for his life behind the Browns’ pieced-together line.

What exactly do the Browns have in Sanders? They have a quarterback who is a true dual-threat option under center, a head coach who is likely to be the next coach fired in the current coaching cycle, and several playmakers on both sides of the field who may be gunning for a trade come the offseason. Myles Garrett may force his way out of town much like Aaron Rodgers, looking for a playoff contender he could win a title with.

As for the Titans, they are in the middle of their complete top-down rebuild. They have already fired their coach, have the No. 1 overall pick from 2025, and a current top-5 projected pick in the 2026 draft. Tennessee has a chance to burn a lot of cash, as one of the teams with the most cap space in the upcoming year. They could sign offensive stars and defensive standouts with that much room on their books.
