Ravens Rise, Bears Regress

October 27, 2025

Chicago came into this one with a four game win streak against a struggling 1-5 Ravens unit, surely this would be a bit of a layup, right? If you’re basing it off the opening drive, maybe? The offense took the ball downfield eating up more than half the first quarter but stalled out and had to settle for a field goal.

The Ravens defense continued to hold just enough for Tyler Huntley and the offense to come alive. It’s an offense that has struggled in the redzone the last few weeks with Cooper Rush converting only one trip out of five for a touchdown. The Ravens had six redzone trips against Chicago and converted three of them for touchdowns and two more for field goals. Huntley unlocked a part of this team that hadn’t been seen during the Rush starts. On top of it, we saw a renewed energy from their defense who was able to keep Williams and company in check via heavy pressures.

Despite the rough day, the Bears were within three points with nine minutes to go in the fourth. Caleb squandered that opportunity by throwing a costly interception to Nate Wiggins who returned it to the 10 yard line. Huntley hit Kolar for a touchdown two plays later, extending the Raven lead to 10 and the day was essentially done.

The Bears are such a confusing team right now. Their offense can look so fantastic behind circus throws from Caleb Williams, and just a few plays later you’ll see him overthrow an open receiver. There is one consistent factor going on right now, and it’s the breakout of Rome Odunze. His season is very real and he had more success on Sunday with his second 100 yard effort of the season. Both Odunze and Williams have had an incredible connection this season and we’ve seen the running game explode in recent weeks to help support this offense. D’Adnre Swift has come up in a big way and found the endzone for his fourth straight game. Kyle Monangai has also been able to provide Swift with some breathers and should have a bit of an increased role as we continue on.

The most disappointing thing to note with the Bears will be the continued inconsistencies with Caleb Williams. The interception in the 4th quarter was so obviously forced. Williams needs to learn when a play has run its course and live to play another down. Despite their struggles against the Ravens, they were still in it until the end until things unraveled a little bit. Asking your defense to hang in there for 60 minutes against Derek Henry isn’t easily accomplished. The offense will need to continue to pull their weight and there HAS to be more development from Caleb Williams. Chicago finds themselves in a good spot despite the loss. They’re right in the thick of the playoff race, but it’s a tough division, and wins against their opponents from the North won’t be easy to come by.
