Parsons Drops His MVP Picks… and Leaves Out a Big Dog
December 11, 2025
After one of the most shocking trades in NFL history led pass rusher Micah Parsons to be traded to the Green Bay Packers, Parsons was asked about who his MVP candidates would be through Week 14.
In remarks from his locker, Parsons named three quarterbacks as his top MVP candidates.
Let’s do a blind look at the numbers for each of the players Parsons named as his top contenders for one of the league’s most prestigious individual awards (numbers courtesy of ESPN.com):
If you are objectively looking at touchdowns, interceptions thrown and passing yards per game, QB C takes most of those categories hands down. That player is Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who in his age 37 year is having one heck of a season. Stafford has been outstanding in 2025, absolutely and objectively one of the best players in the NFL right now.
QB B has more passing yards, with less touchdowns and six more interceptions. This player is Parson’s former teammate Dak Prescott, a player who Parsons still has a lot of respect for. Prescott has two No. 1 receivers at his disposal in Ceedee Lamb and George Pickens, a formidable duo for anyone to have to face. His weapons alone could make any quarterback elite.
QB A is Parson’s current teammate, Packers quarterback Jordan Love. Love has the ability to make really clutch throws, like the gutsy fourth-down throw he made against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. Love has been consistent in his years since taking over for Aaron Rodgers. Love has made himself a gunslinger worthy of being in the MVP conversation.
The one name Parsons didn’t mention who is absolutely a candidate for MVP consideration is Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. Maye ranks second in passing yards (3,412), averages 263 passing yards per game, 23 touchdowns, six interceptions and a 71.5 completion percentage (leads NFL for qualifying passers over 200 attempts). Maye has led the Patriots from the basement to the top of the AFC East, where they were for so many years with Tom Brady. I think it will be a dead heat between Stafford and Maye for the MVP award. Overall, I think it will be Stafford who wins it, in what could be his swan song as a top-tier quarterback, but Maye is absolutely on the rise.
