Packers Rally Past Steelers
October 28, 2025
In a matchup charged with emotion and storyline intrigue, the Pittsburgh Steelers faced off against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, marking a historic first: Aaron Rodgers faced off against the Packers for the first time, this time in Pittsburgh wearing the Steelers’ black and gold. While Rodgers’ presence loomed large, the game also showcased Jordan Love, the young Packers signal-caller tasked with stepping out of Rodgers’ shadow. From the opening snap, the clash felt like more than just a regular-season contest, it was a collision of eras, experience, and legacy, with Rodgers looking to prove himself against his former team and Love trying to assert his place as the future of Green Bay.
The Steelers started off hot forcing the Packers into a 3 and out on the first possession followed by a well put together drive ultimately stalling out for 3 points. Jordan Love and Josh Jacobs responded, driving the Packers down the field in 5 plays. In the red zone for the first time, Tucker Kraft’s Rob Gronkowski-esque night began, hauling in a 16 yard touchdown pass to put the Packers up 7-3. It wasn’t until midway through the second quarter either team was able to sustain a drive, where the Steelers had a short field thanks to a missed Packers field goal, although they couldn’t fully capitalize and had to settle for 3 once again. The Steelers put up another field goal on the next drive to go up 9-7, and after another stop by the Steelers defense, the offense finally found a groove. Going 84 yards in 9 plays, it was the run game with Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell leading the way, resulting in a 2 yard touchdown pass to DK Metcalf. The Packers with a little over 30 seconds left in the half were able to get into field goal range, thanks largely to a 19 yard reception by recently activated Christian Watson, but Brandon McManus failed to put it through the uprights for the 2nd time.
The Steelers started the 3rd quarter with a 3 and out, on 3rd down a Packers defensive lineman jumped offsides, and with Rodgers under the impression it was a free play, threw the ball away. No flag was called though and the Steelers were forced to punt. The following drive on 3rd and 5 Jordan Love, highly pressured, threw it up to Tucker Kraft, who then got away with an OPI and took it 59 yards to the PIT 26 yardline. After a few nice runs by Josh Jacobs, Jordan Love found Savion Williams for an 8 yard touchdown pass. It felt as if the momentum had just shifted, the Steelers still holding the lead though. The Steelers once again were able to move the ball into Chris Boswell’s range, to only get conservative and settle for a field goal to increase the lead to 19-14. The Packers took over again and seemingly had all the momentum, as Jordan Love found Christian Watson for a 33 yard reception, Love’s 13th straight completion at the time. The Packers were able to finish it off with a couple runs and Josh Jacobs punched it in from 3 yards out to give the Packers their first lead. After a Steelers 3 and out, Love came out still firing. After a nice 15 yard carry and a couple short completions, Love found Tucker Kraft for his second TD of the night. Trailing 29-19 in the 4th, the Steelers were held to a 3 and out and fans started to leave as they saw the writing on the wall. After a couple more Steelers punts, a turnover, and a couple Packers field goals, the Steelers Roman Wilson hauled in his first career TD reception in garbage time to cap off his breakout night.
In the end, the Packers’ second-half surge proved decisive, outscoring the Steelers 28–3 after halftime. Jordan Love delivered a masterful performance, completing 29 of 37 passes for 360 yards and three touchdowns, including a franchise-record-tying 20 consecutive completions. Tight end Tucker Kraft emerged as a standout with 143 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Aaron Rodgers, in his first game against his former team, threw for 219 yards and two touchdowns but struggled in the second half. Despite kicker Chris Boswell’s four field goals, including three over 50 yards, the Steelers couldn’t sustain momentum. However, rookie Roman Wilson capped a breakout night with 4 receptions for 74 yards and his first career touchdown reception, giving a bright spot to Pittsburgh in the 35–25 loss. The Packers improved to 5–1–1, carrying confidence into their Week 9 matchup against the Panthers.
