Bengals vs Jets

We posted on social media how it would be just like the Bengals to blow the opportunity to pull to .500 while simultaneously giving the Jets their first win of the season, and it actually happened. The defense and offensive playcalling have long been an issue for Cincy and it showed up once again. Don’t expect changes, just more disappointment. But good for Justin Fields, Aaron Glenn and the Jets after all they’ve gone through lately. Star back Breece Hall scored twice on the ground and threw a third in the endzone to rookie tight end Mason Taylor. The Jets do have some exciting pieces, hopefully they can begin to figure out who they are and get on a bit of a roll.

Broncos

It was the return of Javonte Williams who showed out with a two touchdown day. However everything else was all Broncos. Dak couldn’t get much going offensively for Dallas and threw a couple bad and untimely interceptions. Much like Cincy, they’re built on their offense and will need to score 30+ every week in order to stay in the fight. This wasn’t one of those days and they took a beating in Denver. Dobbins had another 100 yard day on the ground for the Broncos while Bo Nix threw for 4 touchdowns with a nice little breakout day from Troy Franklin.

Colts

Jonathan Taylor scored three more touchdowns as he actively competes with his quarterback  in the MVP race. At the very least, he’s made a strong push for Offense Player of the Year. Taylor has 14 touchdowns on the season through 8 weeks of play and has been absolutely unstoppable while leading the league in rushing. Indianapolis finds themselves in control of the number one seed in the AFC.

Giants

Soon after scoring his 7th touchdown from scrimmage which led all rookies at the time, tragedy struck, and Cam Skattebo suffered a horrific ankle injury. Skattebo underwent surgery at a local hospital not long after being carted off the field and not much else has been released as of Monday. It was the type of injury you never want to witness, especially for a player as beloved by his coaches, fans and teammates. Jaxson Dart was caught on camera with a rather emotional reaction to what he had seen and I’m sure those images can still be found online. From the Giants side of things, they’ve now lost Malik Nabers and Skattebo to terrible season ending injuries. We should be watching the three young stars gel together, but that will have to wait until 2026.

Packers vs Steelers

Aaron Rodgers played host to his former team as Jordan Love and the Pack came to town. The Steelers offense was efficient enough but had some trouble keeping Rodgers upright on key downs. Overall, the letdown was the defense who was carved up by Jordan Love all night long to the tune of 360 yards and three touchdowns. If we’re being honest, Tucker Kraft was the overall star on National Tight Ends Day as he was responsible for 7 grabs, 143 yards and 2 touchdowns. Fortunately, for the Steelers, the Bengals also lost – so no harm, no foul.
