Monday’s Quick Hitters (Week 14)
December 8, 2025
Bears vs. Packers
This matchup truly lived up the hype we had heard on it all week. Matt LaFleur heard Ben Johnson’s comments on “loving to beat the Packers twice a year” and made him pay for it with a 28-21 victory. The Pack took round one but the two teams will meet once again in a few weeks in Chicago with perhaps the same amount on the line. Chicago had a chance to tie it late while driving downfield but Caleb Williams threw a costly interception in the endzone. It was under 10 degrees on the field, but nothing might have been colder than the coach’s post game handshake. On the flipside, per next gen stats, Jordan Love played great and completed 8/11 passes for 126 and 2 scores when blitzed. He’s getting it done despite what the defenses are throwing at him.
Steelers vs. Ravens
Pittsburgh takes round 1 against Baltimore and will host them come week 18 with perhaps the division on the line. Aaron Rodgers lit up the Ravens with the help of a massive 148 yard day from DK Metcalf. Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell were stuffed on the ground which makes it even more amazing to see the passing game step up when they had no other choice. It’s important to note that the next closest producer, outside of the running backs, was Calvin Austin who had 1 catch for 31 yards. Needless to say it was the DK show or nothing which doesn’t point towards any real potential for success moving forward.
Saints vs. Bucs
Tyler Shough and his group of Saints who have absolutely nothing to play for came away with the big win against an opponent with everything to play for. Shough has been impressive and shown improvement each week. The Tampa defense was slowing down the air yards quite a bit and Shough found a way to score twice on the ground. They’re down to their third string RB thanks to injuries and the leading receiver was Devaughn Vele. They had no business winning this one but divisional games can be tough, and the Bucs weren’t ready. Tampa is going to have a heck of a time holding onto this season with Carolina now matching their 7-6 record.
Titans vs. Browns
The two guys hyped up in last Spring’s draft playing against one another? How could you not be interested in this one. The shocking part was that the 5th rounder outplayed the 1st overall pick, despite taking the loss. Shedeur Sanders threw for 364 yards and 3 scores (with 1 int in there). He also led the team in rushing with 29 yards on the ground. Cleveland fell down early but battled all the way back, ultimately losing 31-29 in a thriller. Cam Ward has continued to show development as well. But, let’s face it. That Cleveland pass rush is no joke with Myles Garrett hunting the single season sack record. Ward looked like a rookie at times (117 yards passing) but had a lot of help from Tony Pollard and the run game. The Titans may have won, but the Dawg Pound definitely left feeling like they might be rapidly heading in the right direction for the first time in a long time.
Bengals vs. Bills
It appears as though there will be no storybook ending for the Bengals in 2025. Sure, they beat the Ravens and improved to 4-8 on Thanksgiving. But they needed to essentially win out and they came up short in Buffalo. Burrow had a couple costly interceptions that the team just couldn’t overcome and Cincy went on to lose 39-34. Many forget that it was a must win game for Buffalo as well and Josh Allen made sure to leave no doubt as he completed a stellar 22/28 for 251 and 3 scores. Allen also added 78 yards and a touchdown on the ground. When you needed him to show up, Superman was there, and the Bills improved to 9-4 with a few big games remaining on their schedule; including a week 15 rematch with the Patriots.
