Micah Parsons to Packers: Did Jerry Jones Blow It?

August 30, 2025

After 4 incredible, but exhausting seasons with the Cowboys, Micah Parsons realized his worth and demanded a trade. As of August 28th, 2025 he has been traded to the Green Bay Packers for two first round picks and a DL. How will this move affect the Cowboys defense this year? Micah was known as the best addition to the Cowboys defense since he was drafted by them, so without him, what will the Cowboys do?

Micah’s career with the Cowboys was some of the best that the new generation of football has ever seen. After a failed contract extension, frustrations with owner Jerry Jones, and a feeling that his agent was not involved with negotiations, Parsons demanded that he be traded. In my opinion, I would’ve done everything possible to keep Micah on my team, especially considering the situation that the Cowboys are in. This will only hurt them. While two first round picks and a decent 29 year old DT, Kenny Clark, are not bad, I would’ve tried to get more out of them for the arguably number one defensive player. Micah is 1 of only 29 first round draft picks to be selected for four straight pro bowls in their first four seasons. Micah is also the only one to be traded to a different team to begin the 5th season, most teams clearly love to keep their good players. I believe Jerry Jones made a huge mistake by trading away Micah Parsons, he was honestly the only thing that was keeping their defense afloat. So how will the Cowboys play this year without their star?

With week 1 right around the corner and the Packers up against the Detroit Lions right away, how will Micah play for the Packers? Will he fit in well, or will it take time for him to settle in?

I may be biased as a Lions fan, and I personally think that the Lions will win, but I also think that Micah Parsons will be one of the best additions on Green Bay’s defense. I can’t wait to see how this trade pans out and what Jerry ends up doing with those picks next year.
