From WR1 to On the Move? Meyers Wants Out of Vegas
August 25, 2025
Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers requested a trade today (8/25) which seemingly came out of the blue. It also times up pretty well with this being the same day that Terry McLaurin and the Commanders were able to get a deal worked out and announced.
Meyers led the receiving room in Las Vegas with a little over 1,000 yards and 4 touchdowns and is expected to be the leader once again, although the Raiders did invest some draft capital in the position this off season. According to Ian Rapoport, Meyers met with the Raiders in regards to a restructure to his contract, however, the Raiders are currently unwilling to do so – Resulting in the trade request.
This is an offense that currently looks to be more exciting with the additions of Geno Smith and Ashton Jeanty. The Raiders are finally building something after years of disappointment. Should the Raiders grant Meyers’ wish, look for Bowers and rookies Jack Bech and Dont’e Thornton to receive plenty more opportunity with a team that should passing the ball quite a bit this season. Thornton, in particular, has received plenty of praise this summer as a stand out.
It’s still far too early in the situation to have a feel on how this will play out. But with opening day just two weeks away, this should be resolved sooner rather than later. If I had to predict how this plays out, I would imagine the Raiders and Meyers get something worked out as he means too much to this organization at this point of his career.
