Jacobs Powers Green Bay Past the Cards
October 21, 2025
Josh Jacobs has been the motor that keeps the Green Bay offense running since he signed there in 2024. So you can imagine that when he was ruled as a true game time decision Saturday night with the Pack making a corresponding move to elevate Pierre Strone Jr. from their practice squad – That it led to some worry. Luckily, it was announced before game time that Jacobs would suit up, and cheese head nation let out a collective sigh of relief.
Jacobs has carried a vast majority of the load thus far this year but went through some load management on Sunday due to his aggravated calf. He wasn’t in there for many passing downs and ceded a handful of carries to back up runner Emmanuel Wilson. LaFleur admitted after halftime that there was an effort to limit Jacobs, but since they were trailing at half 13-6, the plan was to unleash him in the second half. This plan didn’t necessarily become true, and as a result, the offense struggled to find their spark.
Defensively, you’d think the Pack would have had an easier time containing Jacoby Brissett but sometimes these backup quarterbacks come out swinging and Brissett was no exception; as he was able to post a very respectable 69% completion percentage, two touchdowns and no interceptions. On the ground, they were able to average 4 yards per carry through the legs of Zonovan Knight. Truthfully, the success of the Cardinal offense came as a bit of a surprise as they were playing with so many washed out backups in important spots.
Despite Jacobs struggling to find room to run, Jacobs still managed to find the endzone twice which helped open things up just enough of for Jordan Love. It was Romeo Doubs week to shine as he led the team with 6 receptions on 72 yards with a couple of those grabs coming on key downs.
Ultimately, the Packers needed their defense to close this out, and that’s exactly what they did behind a career day for Micah Parsons and his three sacks. Green Bay improved their record to 4-1-1 behind that gross tie against Dallas but most importantly, remain at the top of the NFC North.
