Jaxson Dart may have saved Daboll’s job.
The NY Giants finally made the proper decision in benching Russell Wilson and while many were questioning whether Jaxson was ready for the spotlight, he definitely showed out. The young gun wrapped up his first official NFL start with a win over the Chargers, competing 13 out of 20 passes for 111 yards, 1 touchdown, and ZERO interceptions. Pure magic. Not to mention with serious weapons to help lift him up, like Skattebo, Jaxson surely has a bright future as the new Giants franchise QB. What does this mean for the coaching staff? Well now that it appears that Daboll has figured out an ongoing issue (his starting QB), his job very well may be saved. At least for now.
Kirk and Al are the bet announcing duo.
Last season ABC made the unfortunate decision to push Al Michaels out of their primetime slots, leaving the veteran to Amazon Prime. Speculation circled that they cut him solely because he was ‘too honest’ and not willing to glaze the Chiefs and Taylor Swift as some of the other announcers will (I’m looking at you Chris Collinsworth). While we can’t prove this, the move turns out to be a great one because now we have what I consider to be one of the best duos in the announcing game. First you have Al with his many years of experience, unapologetic takes, and wit. Then you have Kirk’s knowledge of these players in their early college years, equally unapologetic takes, and a lovely sense of humor. And together they produce absolute magic. These two gentleman bless us every TNF with chemistry, honest feedback on player talent, and so much more. It’s so refreshing knowing I’m tuning into a game and don’t have to worry about a bias glaze fest. Leave that to our local bakers.
Detroit is underusing David Montgomery.
Unfortunately for Knuckles, he’s not as much of a household name as he should be. Now here’s a guy that will go out ball, whether pushing his way through defenders (no survivors) or running his butt off into the endzone. While he came into Detroit and was a force to behold, after they brought in Jahmyr Gibbs, the play calling seems to be phasing dear ol’ Monty out. Now don’t get me wrong, Gibbs definitely brings his own set of talent into the run game, but in an entirely different way. Hence the nicknames Sonic and Knuckles. Where Gibbs brings speed, Monty brings the fire and the unwillingness to be tackled. Yet, while the pair used to be used relatively equally, as the 2025 season goes on, David is seeing less and less of the field, which makes me question if they’re trying to phase him out and leave Gibbs as their frontrunner. Check out Keith’s article for more deets!
The Ravens clearly gave up.
This past week against the Chiefs was one of the ugliest Ravens games I have seen in my lifetime. It they gave up well before halftime. sure, the score was relatively close, finishing off at 37-20, however when broken down, what did the Ravens accomplish really? By the end of the game, they were out seven…SEVEN…defensive starters, an elite quarterback to what I refer to as a phantom hammy injury, and a look of absolute defeat upon everyone’s face. The body language just screamed “I don’t need this”. Including John Harbaugh. By the third quarter, they’re subbing in Cooper Rush (gross). Harbaugh expressed that he’s “concerned, but I’m not overwhelmed by it”…however maybe he should be. The Ravens are heading into week 5 with only one win (against the Browns) and that’s really alarming for a couple of vets like Jackson and Harbaugh.
Aaron Rodgers is living his best life.
Fresh from his first very first international win, Rodgers is flying high (probably literally) and ready to face the Browns this week. Likely another win. While he had a successful career in Green bay, Aaron just seems to click in Pittsburg. If you recall, over the years he and Mike Tomlin were making lovey eyes at one another and now the two are finally united and it feels so good. Initially, I was a little concerned about Aaron and George Pickens sharing the field (for obvious big-personality reasons), however with him out, I think our vet QB is left with little to roll his eyes at. He and DK seem to be connecting well and Aaron is given the chance to just stand back and watch while their own little makeshift tush push is set into motion. It seems like he feels like a weight has been lifted and he’s free to just enjoy the remainder of his career, however long that may be.
