Dak is an 8-pack of Ball Park…Buns.
By this point it’s no secret that Jerry Jones would rather partake in a reality television show than a well-run football team. You have all of the off-season, contract, and trade drama, but you also have their quarterback situation. I swear he enjoys watching Dak struggle for his own amusement. Now listen, is Dak the worst starting QB out there right now? No. But he certainly isn’t the best either. As we sit today, Dak’s stats on the season just aren’t great. He’s thrown five interceptions (even multiples in a game), is hitting well under 300 yards per game. and currently holds a losing record. This is even with supreme talent out on the field in CeeDee Lamb (just returning from an injury) and newly acquired George Pickens, so how are they losing so badly? The math just doesn’t add up. Oh wait, yes it does…bench him. Dallas finally did just that against the Broncos this weekend late in the fourth quarter and what happened? Joe Milton stepped out and completed 3 of 4 passes for 58 yards, and a touchdown. A TOUCHDOWN. Something Dak was unable to accomplish in three quarters.
Spencer Rattler has no business being in the NFL.
I personally have not been a fan since I saw Rattler on QB1: Beyond the Lights. He had an aura about him that illuminated with arrogance, cockiness, and a confidence that wasn’t backed by his performance. All these years later and he’s still awful. Currently, Spencer is tied with Dak on interceptions on the season (5), throwing a whopping THREE against the Bears in week seven. He’s barely completing half of his passes, he doesn’t read the field well, and he let’s his arrogance get in the way. We all know the Saints organization is a little bit of a mess. Last season they couldn’t get their quarterback situation right. They tried with Derek Carr for 11 games, then Spencer Rattler for six, and even let Jake Haener give it a whirl once. All in all, they finished 5-12. Gross. This season, with Carr now retired, they’re rolling with Rattler and are sitting ugly at 1-7. Now, I’ve heard all of the excuses: their o-line stinks (so does half of the league…next!), he doesn’t have any weapons (um, Rashid Shaheed, Chris Olave, Taysom Hill on occasion….next!), Kellen Moore is their head coach (okay, I’ll give you that one!). But at the end of the day, the excuses just don’t combat the the fact that the New Orleans quarterback really shouldn’t be a starting quarterback. Maybe it’s time to give rookie Tyler Shough a shot?
Bo Nix is back in his Oregon form.
As a Ducks fan, I was super excited to hear Bo Nix’s named called in the 2024 draft (though not a Broncos fan, so that part stung). He definitely turned heads in Oregon during his last two college seasons: held a 12-2 record in 2023, led the Ducks to a 45-6 victory against Liberty in the 2023 Fiesta Bowl, won the Pac-12 Player Offensive Player of the Year in 2023, finished 3rd for the Heisman in 2023, finished his Oregon career as the franchise all-time leader in completion percentage, and set the NCAA single-season record for completion percentage in his final season. Even the haters can say he’s impressive. Then, after turning heads again in training camp, Bo was named the started in 2024, becoming the first Bronco rookie to start the season opener since John Elway in 1983. Again, impressive. Now fast forward to this season. Bo and the Broncos are currently leading the AFC West with a 6-2 record with some statement wins. While every outcome isn’t a blow out, they’re still leading these victories against teams who, quite frankly, they should be losing to (ahem, the Eagles, Giants, and Cowboys). With Bo out there slinging rocket after rocket and actually utilizing the talent he has on the field (taking a stab at my Bengals here) and it feels an awful lot like Sean Peyton has found himself a solid franchise QB.
Justin Fields doesn’t deserve all the hate.
Justin Fields just can’t catch a break. He was drafted the Bears in 2021 and it feels like his career has gone down hill since….to little fault of his own. You see, his time with the Bears was nothing short of a disaster. Fans and staff were putting the blame on Justin for their losses. Then, he’s traded to the Steelers for a brief stint and in steps Caleb Williams: a rookie with a rough start. But somehow, even given the same situation, the disaster wasn’t on the quarterback anymore. The fault fell to the o-line or the lack of weapons (excuse DJ Moore?!) and the poor coaching, etc.. Justin did relatively well in Pittsburgh, despite eventually being benched after six games. But, during those six games, Fields only threw one interception and managed to accumulate five touchdowns and 1, 106 yards. Not too shabby for someone who was allegedly one of the worst QBs in history. Then he slides over to the Jets and although their record doesn’t show it, he isn’t playing all that badly. We are heading into week 9 and he hasn’t thrown a single interception! He’s slightly shy of the yardage he hit in Pittsburg (1,089) , and tied for touchdowns (though it took him eight weeks instead of six). Guys, he’s the only quarterback this season with at least 100 passes and ZERO interceptions. So why the hate? Because the Jets sit at 1-7? That reflects on more than just the QB and if anyone, the owner should be aware of that.
Tyler Huntley outshined Lamar.
Listen, I’m not saying he’s MVP material, I’m just saying he’s not your average backup. So far, Snoop has stepped up in two games with Lamar Jackson out with an alleged injury and he’s won half of those games, bringing their record to 2-5. Meanwhile, Lamar was on a losing streak even the brilliant John Harbaugh couldn’t snap. Sure, Lamar only has one interception to his name so far in 2025, but his completion rate is somewhat mediocre, he’s making rookie mistakes, and it seems like he’s struggling to read the field lately. Then you have Tyler Huntley. Yes, he struggled against the Rams (with that defense, it makes sense), but then he comes out and puts up 30 over 16 against the Bears. Granted, their defense isn’t as strong, but that’s still nothing to turn your nose up at. Tyler came out composed, ready to roll up his sleeves and get to work and he did just that. No rolling his eyes and poor body language on the sideline, even when he made mistakes (I’m looking at you, Lamar).
