San Fran was better off with Mac Jones.

Okay, I know that doesn’t make any sense after they just won two weeks in a row with Purdy’s return, but hear me out. Mac was killing it. He started seven games with Brock Purdy out and threw five interceptions. Not great stats, but Purdy threw three against the Panthers alone. Now don’ get me wrong, I love Brock as I’ve mentioned before, but he just seems to be struggling. Maybe it’s the role of new fatherhood and sleepless nights taking a toll (can relate), maybe his isn’t entirely healed yet, but he doesn’t appear to be ready to be back out there yet. Sports Illustrated published an article in early November even stating that Mac was showing Kyle Shanahan that he shouldn’t be benched. He has excellent passing abilities, mobility, and adapts to change well. He was reminding fans why the Patriots drafted him to begin with and honestly, why he really shouldn’t be a backup. While Brock’s been able to take home a couple of W’s since his Week 11 return, it may be in the best interest of the 49ers to run with Mac a little longer. They’re only behind Seattle by one loss and have the components to keep winning. It almost feels like they pushed Brock out too soon…hopefully that doesn’t lead to a relapse with his turf toe.

Was I wrong about Shedeur Sanders?

If there’s one thing no woman wants to admit, it’s when she’s wrong. Yet here I am…I may have been wrong about Shedeur Sanders. The kid has so much behind-the-scenes drama going on and sweats arrogance, but he stepped up when the Browns were in need. With Dillion Gabriel out with a concussion and the rest of their quarterback room on other teams (with the exception of Bailey Zappe on the practice squad), it was time for Shedeur to show what he’s been preaching for the past several months. And, might I say, he kind of delivered. He led the team to a 24-10 victory against the Raiders, which while it shouldn’t be that hard, Maxx Crosby wasn’t exactly shying away. He went for 11 of 20 for 209 yards, one touchdown, one interception., and only sacked once All in all, not too shabby for a rookie start with an immense amount of pressure on his shoulders. Now, the win wasn’t all on Shedeur. He does have excellent talent to work with in rookie Isaiah bond, Jerry Jeudy, and Quinshon Judkins. The trio, in addition to Dylan Sampson, brought in three touchdowns for him. Not to mention the defense raked in ten sacks (a single-game high since 2023 for the franchise), with Myles Garrett adding three to his season total (passing the Browns’ single-season record at 18). With a defense performing like that, it’s kind of hard to lose, but I’m giving Shedeur his credit. And I’m not soo proud to admit that I may have been wrong about him…but let’s see how the coming weeks play out.

The Bucs are on a downward spiral.

This one hurts my heart to write, but the Buccaneers lost their mojo. As of today, they’ve lost three in a row: Patriots, Bills, Rams. They squeaked an easy win out of the Saints, but before that, were also crushed by the Lions. What is going on in Tampa?! Early on in the season they lost Mike Evans, Bucky Irving has been hurt, Chris Gowin only recently returned, and now after an ugly loss to LA, Baker is out. No hate on Teddy Bridgewater, but man, he just isn’t going to be able to pull these guys out of the wreck. The Bucs are about to face the Cardinals in Week 13 and honestly, now that Jacoby Brissett is leading the flock, this might turn into another ugly matchup for Tampa. Aside from Baker’s (hopefully soon) return, it doesn’t feel like a whole lot will help. Are the Bucs going to start falling in a division they’re currently leading? Dang, and I just said a few weeks ago Baker is MVP material. I hope I didn’t jinx him.

Jacoby Brissett is giving the Cardinals life.

Speaking of Jacoby Brissett, he’s kind of answering prayers for the Cardinals fans. Kylar Murray seems to struggle a lot, and while Brissett isn’t perfect, he’s making moves. Now let’s not get too carried away here because they are still on a losing season, however the vet is showing a little oomf then Arizona was getting out of Murray. Height aside (lol), Brissett has an arm, an ability to read the field, and bail when things are getting dicey. The losses (all but one start) are against tough defenses like the 49ers, Packers, and Colts, where many QBs find themselves in a pickle. But if Arizona can figure out a few of these missing pieces, keep MHJ healthy, and maybe role with the experienced quarterback that watches tape…well maybe they’ll find themselves in a winning season next year. After, of course, drafting some much needed help.

The Bengals are terrible at decision making.

Yes, I know…Lucy is whining about the Bengals again…but guys, they make being a fan SO HARD. Once again, Joey B is missing time with an injury and Jake Browning is supposed to step in. Except he proved early on (despite my glazing him in an earlier hot take) that he’s buns. So they go ahead and trade for Joe Flacco. I was a little weary about that, but all in all, he was performing about as well as he could. But that wasn’t good enough for Zac Taylor and he continues with the same dry excuses every week. Confused, thought they were doing enough, it makes him sick, they’ll do better next week, blah, blah, blah. Then, oh hey, Burrow should be ready by Thanksgiving! So in typical Cincy fashion, they’re planning on starting him. Against the Ravens. In Baltimore. WHAT?! Now I’m not a coach or a professional by any means, but that doesn’t make a lick of sense. Zac continues the mediocre, run up the middle for a quick three and out play calling, the o-line still doesn’t know hoe to protect their QB, and the defense still doesn’t exist. They’re sitting at 3-8, barely above the Browns. But they want to start Burrow? Mr. Made of Glass. Once again. A terrible call by Zac and the front office and honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Shiesty is back out with another injury before halftime. What a way to ruin Bengals fans Thanksgiving.
