Frozen Assets: The Packers’ 2025 Fantasy Reality Check
January 12, 2026
Where to begin on the 2025 Green Bay Packers. There was hype for first round pick Matthew Golden, but he wouldn’t score his first touchdown until the playoffs. Josh Jacobs was relied upon to be an anchor on a lot of teams, and let’s face it, he looked like he’s lost a step at 27 years old. Honestly, there were a lot of times where the backups Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks looked like they had more juice. What can we look forward to for 2026?
Green Bay had an offense that ranked average in scoring, rushing and passing. As far as the rush game goes. Jacobs took a big dip in points per game by nearly dropping two points (17 to 15) and finished as the RB13 in PPR. He battled multiple injuries from at least week 10 on and he’d miss two games down the final stretch. Yards were hard to come by and anytime he took a hit to that knee, he would sit out the next few plays or entire drives. He clearly wasn’t right but attempted to play through and burned fantasy managers during the final playoff weeks. He’d ultimately fail to reach 1,000 yards rushing and wouldn’t have much of an impact on the Packers actual playoff game either.
Jordan Love was drafted as the QB18 and finished as the QB15 which actually made him a solid investment as your second or third option. He’s hovered around 16 points per game the last few years now which is probably what you can expect at this stage of his career. He’ll have a game where he throws for 350 and four touchdowns and follows it up with 170 yards and nothing else. As long as you understand what you’re buying into, it’s hard to come away disappointed. I will say that Love seemed to finally help rookie Matthew Golden break out in their playoff loss to the Bears. If those two can step up next Fall and continue their growth, Love might finally have that big time playmaker that the offense has been missing.
Of course they still have Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs as well. Christian Watson could be THAT guy but he’s always seemingly dealing with some sort of ailment keeping him from truly breaking out. Let’s not forget what Jayden Reed is capable of as well. He missed a lot of time with a collar bone injury and never quite got back on track when he returned. He was an 850 yard receiver just a year ago and could easily bounce back to that type of player with full health. With Watson likely being the most costly option, Reed and Golden could be interesting later round options. Tucker Kraft was fantastic as well but with an ACL tear in week 9, he more than likely will not play a factor for most fantasy teams next Fall.
As of January 12th, with so many coaching jobs still open, there have been some rumors of the Packers parting ways with coach Matt LaFleur given the end to another disappointing season. A sudden change of coaching philosophies would obviously very much change the future of players within this organization. Albert Breer has linked the Falcons to LaFleur with the connection between him and Matt Ryan which could lead to a major shake up in Green Bay.
