Eagles Slip, Bears Surge: Philly’s NFC East Grip Loosens

November 30, 2025

The Philadelphia Eagles have a problem. 2025 has no longer become about repeating as Super Bowl champions; it’s become a dogfight for the NFC East between them and the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles have now lost back-to-back games for the second time this season, and despite a two touchdown performance from Jalen Hurts, the Eagles couldn’t overcome the Bears’ offensive onslaught.

In wins, I think the Eagles have looked like the team which won the Super Bowl last year, with an average margin of victory at nearly seven points. The average is deceiving, though, when the Eagles won by 18 over the New York Giants earlier in the year. In my estimation, the 2025 Eagles look like the 2024 Kansas City Chiefs; really good in one-score games, going 7-2 in those contests. The Eagles have some disgruntled star receivers, specifically from A.J. Brown, who has complained about his lack of targets on social media. Brown did have 10 receptions for 132 yards and a touchdown against Chicago, which should satisfy him for at least a week, don’t you think?

The Chicago Bears have gotten in a groove, as the leaders of the NFC North. That was NOT a result I had on my bingo card at the beginning of the 2025 season. The Bears sit at 9-3, a half-game on top of the Green Bay Packers, by virtue of the tie Green Bay had with Dallas. Ben Johnson was so fired up after the game, he gave a shirtless locker room speech to the players. In my opinion, Caleb Williams has been one of the gutsiest quarterbacks in the NFL as of late, a late bloomer if I’ve ever seen one. Williams was 17-of-36 for 154 yards, one touchdown and one interception, while the Bears were powered by a run game which totaled 281 yards on the ground. Running back Kyle Monangai led the way with 22 carries for 130 yards and one touchdown.

This game means all the more with two Bears-Packers matchups in the next three weeks. The two games will surely determine the winner of the NFC North, securing the winner of the division a playoff spot, and a home game.
