Keith, Commish
A Fantasy Season with THE Dynasty League is a behind-the-scenes look at one commissioner’s journey through a homegrown dynasty fantasy football league. Each week covers trades, roster moves, rookie updates, league drama, and more — all from the perspective of a manager playing the long game. It’s fantasy football with history, strategy, and just the right amount of chaos.

Bench Warmers & Blowouts: The Week 5 Shame Parade
It was a quiet week on the trades front but very loud in the box scores. Many teams were in battles to get their course corrected and attempt to solidify themselves as playoff contenders. Others fell further from the pack. Points were down in week 5 with the weekly median dropping to 146 right after we witnessed a season high 160 in week 4.

Game Recaps
Staff Infection (1-4) vs Big Penix Energy (5-0)
Penix Energy flashed what they were capable of while posting a league high (second highest on the season) 230 points, leaving absolutely no doubt in this one. I have to admit that I felt sick as Justin Fields (39) went into the 4th quarter with 11 points while Stroud (42) was going nuts on my bench. Fortunately, Dallas got so far ahead on the Jets that they allowed for some clutch garbage time points for both Fields and Wilson (17) to get on the board. Jaylen Waddle (25) got back to Waddling in the end zone as the new go to guy in Miami. Hopefully this is the revival of his career and can be relied upon moving forward.
I no doubt caught Staff Infection at the right time as the BYE weeks forced him to play without Bijan, London and Swift. We could talk about who could’ve been subbed in for who, but when your optimum lineup still has you losing by over 100 points, it’s just one of those weeks where it wouldn’t have mattered. It’s been a tough start for SI who has already been playing without James Conner and Aaron Jones. He’ll look to get back in the win column in week 6 vs the mighty Blue Know it.
The Flea Market (3-2) vs Yoshi & Friends (0-5)
The Flea Market squeaked out a win against the lowly Yoshi this past week and feels very fortunate to have the scheduling Gods on their side. Flea Market posted the lowest total by any team that won this week. Johnston (6) turned back into a pumpkin and the other contributions were not great. It’ll be interesting to see if this group leans into owning the 2026 draft to get some home run hitters on this roster to help out Jeanty as he comes into his own or attempt to make a run this season. Currently 3rd lowest in OPF, I think I know where to lean.
One team that is for sure leaning into the 2026 draft are the basement dwelling Yoshi & Friends. Anytime you’re getting two 0’s in the lineup (Tolbert and Bateman), you’re more than likely in for a rough day. The bad news is that there isn’t too much help coming back. I’m not sure how Yoshi gets in the win column, they’ll definitely need some assistance but you could argue that they received that luck this week and still couldn’t get the job done.
Blue Know It (2-3) vs Bronze Universe (3-2)
UPSET ALERT! Bronze Universe took down Blue Know It in a week 5 statement game. Rico Dowdle (50) went OFF while running back mate (-0.2) took the day OFF. The charge was also led by Mahomes (41) who may be back to his old high scoring ways, Egbuka (36), and a big night by Travis Kelce (16). The only duds were Bucs D (-.35) and Ollie Gordon who was responsible for that -.02 mentioned above. If you catch this team on the right week, they can take down anyone.
After starting the season 2-0. Blue Know It now finds themselves in a three game skid. They’ll be hoping to stop that slide against a 1-4 Staff Infection next week but he’ll have to do it without Jettas and Chubb as they’ll be on BYE. It’s hard to imagine this talented roster falls any further but it just goes to show that anyone can fall on any given week.
Shake N Bake (3-2) vs Ricky B (4-1)
Who saw this one coming?! Ricky B is on a hot streak as of late taking down Blue Know It and Shake N Bake in back to back weeks. In week 5 of the 2024 season, this team was 1-4 and dead in the water. The turn around Ricky has brought to this team cannot be understated. The victory did come with quite a high cost as he’ll be without his work horse runner Omarion Hampton for a few weeks. It’s quite difficult to earn victories without a stable rb room, but Javonte Williams (37) can carry it if he can keep the performances like that coming in.
Shake N Bake did have a few let downs in their lineup in Etienne (8), K. Allen (9), W Robinson (4) and J. Meyers (5). Derrick Henry (12) didn’t have a great game but it certainly won’t kill you to get 12 points. He’ll be looking to unleash the number one overall runner in Jonathan Taylor (36) against Amon Ra Doggin Your Girl in week 6 in what will be a showdown of two top four teams. There should be some better days ahead for Shake N Bake as they currently lead the league in PA while still placing 4th in PF. You have to imagine the luck turns at some point. However, Big Penix went 6-8 in 2023 and missed the post season despite being 2nd in PF because they were also 2nd most in PA.
Tua Time (3-2) vs Accepting Trade Offers (3-2)
Tua Time was able to overcome ATO’s Christian McCaffrey (30) and get the job done to improve to 3-2. Solid contributions from Gibbs (20), Hunt (20) and Stevenson (18) were enough to beat out the injured Trade Offers lineup. I probably wouldn’t feel great about relying on Hunt and Stevenson on a weekly basis but if they perform like they did in week 5, it’ll always be enough to ensure a victory.
Trade Offers were for sure missing their duo of Chuba and Bucky Irving who were both lost to injuries this past week. That forced a few starts that we normally would not see like Chris Rodriguez (1.7), Ayomanor (3) or Strange (3) in the flex spot. It’ll be interesting to see the direction chosen should this one loss turn into a two game losing streak next week against the red hot Bronze Universe. McCaffrey is sitting there waiting to be cashed out on.
Hanks You Very Much (1-4) vs Amon Ra Doggin Your Girl (3-2)
Ra Doggin’ earned the victory by a decent margin behind what was really a total team effort when you exclude Woody Marks (3). No other starter had less than 12. It had to have felt good to finally get Marvin Harrison in there and see him “under perform” with a nice 15 point game. Ra Doggin’ flexed on Hanks a bit getting the W while benching a 17 point Tony Pollard.
Hanks got off to a hot start with Puka posting 20 on TNF but that was about all that happened outside of a little Bill 39 point day. As someone who wasted Ja’Marr Chase’s triple crown season, you’re going to hate it when you lose Puka’s season to a non-playoff year if you’re unable to string together some wins soon here. Hanks would have been in a better position had they swapped out their Falcons defense (BYE) for anyone else that had a game (lol). However, you still would have been at least 20 points short as Ra Doggin’ wasn’t looking to take the L this week. Hanks will get a chance to make a statement and matches up against the last undefeated squad Big Penix Energy next week.
Week 5’s in the books — some of you soared, most of you suffered, and the rest are already scouting 2026. Same grind, new heartbreak next week.
