Keith, Commish

A Fantasy Season with THE Dynasty League is a behind-the-scenes look at one commissioner’s journey through a homegrown dynasty fantasy football league. Each week covers trades, roster moves, rookie updates, league drama, and more — all from the perspective of a manager playing the long game. It’s fantasy football with history, strategy, and just the right amount of chaos.

Contenders Rise, Pretenders Fall in Week 3

Week 3 was pure chaos. Star players flopped, surprise heroes popped, and a few managers probably started Googling “how to fake Wi-Fi issues during lineup lock.” Contenders flexed, pretenders crumbled, and somehow Quinton Johnston decided he’s a real football player now. Dynasty never disappoints, but it sure can humiliate.

Game Recaps

Blue Know it (2-1) vs Shake N Bake (3-0)

It was a rematch of the 2024 Championship game and both teams came into this one undefeated. Unfortunately for Blue Know it, the result was the same, and Shake N Bake took care of them once again. Blue Know it had a quick start with James Cook putting up near 27 on TNF this past week, but major duds from Barkley, Chubb, Diggs, Deebo, and Jettas (all posting 9.5 or less) prevented them from remaining competitive through Sunday.

Jonathan Taylor continued to roll for Shake N Bake, putting up three touchdowns on a near 40 point day. King Henry and Etienne didn’t kill him, but did just enough while posting 12 and 13 respectively. Travis Hunter continues to struggle to get going, but this starting lineup is good enough to get it done while the Jaguars figure themselves out – if they ever do.

Amon Ra Doggin Your Girl (1-2) vs Accepting Trade Offers (2-1)

I don’t know what to say, whenever ATO seems dead, they find a way to bring someone out of nowhere like a Jordan Mason and continue their winning ways. As long as Hubbard, Bucky, CMC, and Mason stay healthy, this group is in a good spot to make a run as dynasty backs are so hard to come by. As long as you have them, you’ll give your opponents a difficult challenge. Trading for Calvin Ridley should assist here as the Titans get more comfortable with their rookie QB, and the preseason trade of moving off AJ Brown for Nico Collins continues to age better and better. The Texans might struggle, but Nico is still getting his which is all that matters.

It’s a tough loss for Amon Ra here as most of their guys did enough to get the win. Deploying an RB trio of Pollard, Kyren and KW will usually be enough, especially this past week where they all scored 17 or higher. Tee Higgins will continue to disappoint most weeks and Hopkins will likely be inconsistent. The good news is that this group should benefit from the loss of Ceedee Lamb as Pickens will get every opportunity over the next several weeks on a pass first offense. Higher scoring weeks are ahead.

Big Penix Energy (3-0) vs Bronze Universe (1-2)

Time to change the team name to “Small Penix Energy” as this team continues to struggle to get going. The 3-0 record looks nice for now but it’ll be tough to keep earning wins with the loss of Lamb, Kittle, Chase losing Burrow and a QB room (Stroud, Penix, Fields) that either can’t stay healthy or score more than 10 points – The future is not looking great. There’s a tough matchup ahead in week 4 against Accepting Trade Offers that could really begin the downfall of this season. If not for a 52 point Vikings Defense performance, Big Penix probably takes the L.

Bronze Universe has to be upset at how this one played out. Your opponent put up 7 in the QB slot, Lamb put up a 0 and didn’t play, it was all there for the taking. Dowdle and Gainwell scored touchdowns, Sutton had a big day, if only Nabers could have done ANYTHING. I know that Sunday Night Giants came had you angry. Between Nabers and the late Jennings scratch which unfortunately wasn’t caught in time – It has to feel like a win slipped away a bit.

Hanks You Very Much (1-2) vs The Flea Market (1-2)

Flea Market might’ve lost Joe Burrow but still had Spencer Rattler and that was enough to get it done this week narrowly escaping with a 1 point victory. You can’t go down 0-3 and Flea Market made sure it wouldn’t happen. Jeanty and Pacheco continue to lay early season eggs, but solid contributions from Quinton Johnston (?!?!? is this real now) and Ricky Pearsall kept them in it.

Hanks continues to enjoy the resurgence of Justin Herbert. Whatever Harbaugh is doing out there with him is working. Everyone in the line up did enough to keep this team in it to the very end – Henderson, Bill. Achane, sure they could have done more but they weren’t nothing burgers. Hanks had a chance with Jameson Williams on MNF and, unfortunately, couldn’t find two more points to get the victory. Flea Market is fortunate to escape and this one will hurt Hanks until next week.

Ricky B (2-1) – Yoshi + Friends (0-3)

Ouch. Yoshi had not one, but two players exit the game early in Mike Evans and Alec Pierce. It unfortunately played a large part in cancelling out the great start they had in a near 17 point night from Kincaid on TNF. The clear highlight from this team is the sudden emergence of Cam Skattebo. Yoshi took some heat taking Skat third overall in the rookie draft, however, he’s looking like a clear game changing wrecking ball. If Yoshi can get some help around him, they might have a chance at hitting the win column soon.

Ricky B continues to roll to a 2-1 record in his rookie season in the dynasty league. Josh Allen got the scoring started early on Thursday, but the running backs really got it done on Sunday. Ricky was able to match the Skattebo 28 point game with a 29 point game from his own rookie runner Hampton. With Najee now out of the picture there, it’s all Hampton all the time moving forward. Another productive day from Rome Odunze helped lift this team to victory.

Staff Infection (1-2) vs Tua Time (1-2)

Staff Infection got off to a hot start on opening weekend but find themselves in a two game skid at the conclusion of week 3. There were a couple factors that made this one difficult. Most notably, the loss of James Conner who will be out the remainder of the 2025 campaign. Another being that RJ Harvey seems to be losing work to JK Dobbins in the Denver backfield. Dyami Brown leaving due to injury and and London/McConkey having rough outings spoiled what could have been a winnable week.

Meanwhile, the Eagles offense finally got going which is always a good thing when you own the Hurts/Brown stack as Tua Time does. Tyreek Hill added 15 of his own on TNF and Gibbs put the finishing touches on things with nearly 30 points on Monday Night. It will be interesting how the Patriots backfield shakes out moving forward as Rhamondre Stevenson had just a terrible game. However, as Staff Infection loses Conner, Tua Time gains another starter through Trey Benson which should keep this machine going.

We’re starting to reach that point where managers are finding out what they have this season. Some may be losing players and looking to sell older assets, others may be leaning into early season success and looking to buy. We’ll check in next week after week 4 concludes to report on all of the action from around the Dynasty League.
