Deuce Vaughn’s Dallas Chapter Closes

August 27, 2025

Just two seasons after Deuce Vaughn was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys, he has been released. Vaughn was a part of a viral video during the 2023 NFL draft when his father, a scout for the Cowboys, was given the honor of calling his son to let him know that Dallas was selecting him. It was somewhat of a surprising pick as Vaughn would have been, and did become, the third shortest NFL running back in league history – Standing at 5’5’’.

Since that day, the Dallas Cowboys running back room has been searching for an answer with the fall off of Ezekiel Elliott. However, Vaughn couldn’t quite carve out a role, eventually losing playing time last season to Rico Dowdle. With the 2025 off season additions of Javonte Williams, Miles Sanders and Jaydon Blue, there just wasn’t the space on the team to continue holding onto Vaughn.

As a great a story as he was, the NFL odds were always against him. Here’s to hoping he can establish himself with a new team soon.
