Cowboys Cook, Commanders Collapse
October 21, 2025
Since the 2025 NFL season is in full force, division matchups are now beginning to shape a complex playoff picture.
The Dallas Cowboys (3-3-1) faced the Washington Commanders (3-4) in a Week 7 showdown of top-tier division rivals. The Cowboys came in as the No. 1 offense in the NFL. Newsflash: They stayed that way. The Commanders struggled all game, and struggled even more after their starting quarterback, Jayden Daniels went down with a hamstring injury in the third quarter. Daniels finished 12-of-22 for 156 yards and one touchdown before his exit. Daniels also added eight rushes for 35 yards and a touchdown.
After Daniels left, Marcus Mariota came in and threw a massive pick-six which virtually sealed the game for Dallas. Mariota finished 4-of-10 for 63 yards and the interception.
Dallas finally got wide receiver Ceedee Lamb back to pair with George Pickens, making an instant impact, with five receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown. Pickens added four catches for 82 yards in the win.
Dak Prescott continues to have big games in the regular season, with a near-flawless performance. Prescott finished 21-of-30 for 264 yards and three touchdowns. Dallas running back Javonte Williams continues to build on a huge prove-it season for the Cowboys, with 19 rushes for 116 yards and one touchdown.
Dallas tight end Jake Ferguson also had a fantastic game, catching seven passes for 29 yards and two touchdowns, which propelled the Cowboys to the big 44-22 victory. Dallas still possesses the No. 1 offense, and Washington faces short-term uncertainty at quarterback, as Daniels avoided “significant” injury. His status for Week 8 is still in doubt, and could miss his third game of the season. Washington is 1-1 with Daniels out, with a win over the Las Vegas Raiders and a loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Next up for both teams are road AFC West matchups: Washington will take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football, in Kansas City. The Chiefs are starting to put everything together, looking more like the team we’re used to seeing.
Dallas’ No. 1 offense will take on the NFL’s No. 1 defense, the Denver Broncos at altitude. The Broncos are coming off a wild 33-32 win over the New York Giants, and are ready to take on the ‘Boys at Empower. This should be one of the games to watch this upcoming week.
