Cooked or Cooking? Jets Roll the Dice on Their Undrafted Rookie

December 11, 2025

Jets undrafted rookie quarterback Brady Cook took all of the first team reps on Wednesday while Tyrod Taylor and Justin Fields didn’t practice.Taylor only attempted four passes on Sunday against the Dolphins before a groin injury removed him from the game. Cook came in and completed just under 50% of his passes for 163 yards and 2 interceptions. He did have a sure touchdown throw to John Metchie that was dropped late in the game.

Cook acknowledged in a press conference that “there were a lot of learning experiences for sure on Sunday. Some good stuff, some stuff I need to clean up.” Cook added specifically, “that end of half, we need to take points there. We need to take points at end of half but also some great flashes, some great things from the O-line up front, receivers, running backs and myself that we need to build on.”

He was accountable and didn’t shy away from it and will no doubt embrace his first start Sunday against a Jacksonville Jaguars squad that’s been hotter than expected.

Brady Cook was immediately signed by the Jets in April after going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. Cook was a two time SEC Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year, a Campbell Trophy semifinalist, and ended his Missouri career as their all time wins leader as a starter. He’s also the owner of the SEC record for most consecutive passes without an interception (348). The next big step in his football journey may be lined up as his first career start.
