Chiefs Stun Colts in OT, Keep Playoff Hopes Alive After Fourth-Quarter Comeback
November 24, 2025
The Kansas City Chiefs overcame an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter, kicking a game-winning field goal in overtime to beat the Indianapolis Colts.
Patrick Mahomes and Co. won their first one-score game in 2025, and the Colts fall to 8-3, now in possession of the third seed in the AFC.
Here’s how the AFC playoff picture looks today, if the playoffs started today.
However, this game could be about the Colts’ late game collapse. After forcing a Chiefs fumble in the red zone, the Colts were unable to capitalize on anything, punting on their final four drives of the game. Running back Jonathon Taylor had a rough day running the ball, and Shane Steichen failed to establish the run late to close Kansas City out.
For the Chiefs, every game from here on out is a playoff game. One loss could derail their entire season, and a chance to be the second team in NFL history to appear in four consecutive Super Bowls, behind only the 1990’s Buffalo Bills. The Chiefs find themselves in a deep hole due to their early struggles. Since they lost to the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars, they will need to win out, and be better than both teams because of the head-to-head tiebreaker. Kansas City also plays the Houston Texans in two weeks, another potential tiebreak situation.
Is it possible we don’t see the Chiefs in the playoff bracket this year? Not according to GLG writer Chris Jackson, who just recently came out with his AFC playoff bracket. It’s going to be an uphill battle, but the Chiefs are never truly out of the hunt, especially when it comes to December football.
