Chicago’s Arrival Party

September 22, 2025

The Cowboys lost CeeDee Lamb early in this one but I’m not sure that would’ve mattered much as Dallas couldn’t seem to slow down Chicago. Caleb WIlliams hit Rome Odunze for a quick score and shortly after, Ben Johnson dialed up a flea flicker for Luther Burden. Burden added two catches later on for his first career 100 yard performance. Williams distributed his 19 completions to 8 different teammates and got everyone involved while taking this one over and leaving zero doubt.

The running game struggled just a little bit with both Swift and Monangai held under 2.7 ypc but Williams added 14 yards of his own to keep the sticks moving throughout the game. It doesn’t sound like much, but a few yards here and there kept the Dallas defense honest, allowing Caleb to find an open receiver when he would scramble outside of the pocket. Williams still missed a few of those easy throws. Most notably in the second half when he had Odunze wide open on an out route toward the left sideline and he simply sailed it, but he also made some beautiful tight window throws. There’s no denying that the Johnson/Williams connection is improving week to week and it was on full display Sunday for all Bears fans to see. It provides even more reason to have some confidence in the fact that Ben Johnson is slowly reeling in Williams and seems to be capable of getting him to slow things down and focus a bit more on those more routine throws.

The final jab that Caleb and the Bears got out of this was being able to put this performance on against their former coach, Matt Eberflus who is now the defensive coordinator in Dallas. It appears that he’s still not capable of winning a game in Chicago.

The final stat line reads 19/28 for 298 yards and 4 touchdowns.
