Chargers Hold Off Titans Despite Injuries, Win 27-20

November 4, 2025

The Tennessee Titans have been trying to find their way with rookie quarterback Cam Ward. In the midst of what was already considered a lost season, the Titans have already fired their head coach partway through the season, and only have one win through the first nine weeks of the season.

Ward and the Titans made it close, but in the end, the Titans eventually lost to the the Los Angeles Chargers 27-20.

The Chargers continue to have injuries to key players pile up, as they lose left tackle and blindside protector Joe Alt for the rest of the season. As a result, Justin Herbert was sacked a season-high six times.  The biggest takeaway from this game was the way the Chargers have been fighting to stay in games, in spite of all the injuries. Think about it: the Chargers have virtually no running game, turning to the likes of Jaret Patterson and Kimani Vidal. WHO?? Herbert was their leading rusher with 57 yards on the ground. How sustainable is the Chargers’ winning without key pieces? And do they become buyers at Wednesday’s trade deadline? You have to imagine the Chargers are making a play for a running back from anyone at the deadline, as having your quarterback being your rushing attack is not sustainable.

Speaking of the trade deadline, the Titans started to offload players, trading defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones to the Baltimore Ravens for a Day 3 pick, a conditional fifth rounder which could turn into a fourth round pick in the 2026 NFL draft. Earlier last week, they also traded cornerback Roger McCreary and a conditional sixth round pick to the Los Angeles Rams for a conditional fifth round pick in 2026. It remains to be seen what kind of a fire sale the Titans will have to acquire draft capital before Tuesday’s 4 pm EST deadline.

What kind of assets do the Titans have that other teams want? What draft picks will they give the front office to help Ward have more offensive talent in the years to come? Or, more likely, the Titans stand pat, weather the storm of 2025 and find new talent with a new regime.
