Broncos Survive Another Heart Attack Finish in Wild OT Win

December 1, 2025

The Denver Broncos have a knack for taking the years off the lives of their fans in 2025. This time, it comes after a 27-26 win over the Washington Commanders in overtime. The Broncos gave it all they got to lose the game, including imploding offensively in the fourth quarter, and defensively collapsing in overtime to let the Washington Commanders keep in the game.

As your resident GLG Broncos fanatic, I don’t know how much more of this I can take. Look, I survived the WILD Tim Tebow years, the horrific Russell Wilson years, and all the quarterbacks in between, and never had it like this, since “The Sheriff” was under center. Bo Nix and the Broncos play a wild brand of football, and somehow come away with a win.

The Bronco defense gave up 419 yards on 85 total plays, which is some collegiate-like numbers. In overtime, the Commanders scored a touchdown to answer Denver’s opening salvo in the fifth quarter of the game, and it came down to a two-point conversion. Denver’s best pass rusher, Nik Bonitto came up with a pass deflection to what surely would have been a game-winning pass from Marcus Mariota to seal a Denver victory.

Both teams were coming off their bye week, which made it feel a little rusty on both sides of the ball. In the first half, Mariota threw an interception to linebacker Dre Greenlaw, his first interception of his time in Denver. For Denver, quarterback Bo Nix had a candidate for throw of the year on a touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton, who became the third-fastest Bronco to 6,000 career receiving yards. If the throw had been made by Patrick Mahomes, everyone would be drooling over it for weeks to come. I think it’ll be overlooked by Thursday.

Washington just wouldn’t go away, making two field goals in the fourth quarter to send it into overtime. The Broncos just have some Mile High Magic this year. Can it continue into the playoff race, or is this fool’s gold? I think it’s the former. But, then again, hope springs eternal in a Bronco household.
