Broncos Storm Past Texans Behind Late Surge, Extend Win Streak to Six

November 4, 2025

How is it possible the Denver Broncos have sustained this success? Where do they disappear in the first 45 minutes of the game, and what happens in the last 15 minutes? The thing is, nobody really has an answer to any of those questions. What the NFL has seen is the emergence of the best fourth quarter offense in the NFL, tied with the Green Bay Packers with 96 total points in the fourth quarter. As the Broncos continue to ride the momentum of a six-game win streak, Denver has outscored opponents 86-20 in the fourth quarter. Their top-five defense held up without reigning Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain, holding the Houston Texans to five field goals.

The Texans were without starting quarterback CJ Stroud for much of the contest, who was knocked out of the game early into concussion protocol by an unfortunate hit by Bronco cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine. Davis Mills came in, and was 17-of-30 for 137 yards in relief.

One of the biggest stories remains the Bronco fourth quarter offense. In the final 15 minutes, the Broncos scored 11 unanswered points, as they roll to 4-0 when trailing going into the fourth quarter. October’s AFC Special Teams Player of the Month Wil Lutz made the final field goal after an encouraging “Hey, right through!” from head coach Sean Payton.

This game was a defensive slugfest, featuring the top two defenses in the NFL. The Broncos dominated third down, as the Texans were an abysmal 3-of-17 on third down. The Texans’ final drive gave the Broncos just over a minute to go down the field and score.

There isn’t enough said of how second-year quarterback Bo Nix has been overlooked. Nix has made a case to say he’s in the conversation for the top two quarterbacks in the 2024 draft class, which features Drake Maye, Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Michael Penix. All are starting in the league, but Nix has been clutch in big moments. He was even seen smiling on the final drive, when the Broncos pulled out the win. There is no disputing however, the Broncos are a scrappy team with high playoff aspirations. At 7-2, the Broncos are four points from being 9-0. Hard to believe, but it’s true. Denver is back, and they are dangerous.
