Broncos Pull Off Unthinkable Comeback
October 21, 2025
The Denver Broncos are the new Cardiac Kids! In the most improbable, stunning comeback in…well, I’ve been a Broncos fan for a long time, but this one was special.
Former Bronco Demaryius Thomas was posthumously honored in the team’s Ring of Fame, making for one of the most emotional home games in a while for Denver. It was also the honoring of the Super Bowl 50 team, headed by Hall of Famer Peyton Manning and the “No Fly Zone” defense. It was the largest-ever gathering of former alumni, with nearly 170 former players coming back to the Mile High City.
For three quarters, it was the Giants showing everything they had to beat the No. 1 defense in the NFL, and they were doing it…easily. All due credit to the New York Giants; they played one hell of a game. Cam Skattebo and Dart were grounding and pounding, Dart spread the ball around with ease, and with the poise of a veteran. Yet it was only 19-0 going into the fourth.
Then the Broncos got going. It felt way too little, way too late. The Broncos got on the board with a deflected touchdown and two-point conversion to make it 19-8. Then the Giants felt like they sealed it with a ricochet score of their own, a circus catch that put the Giants up 26-8. Most fans headed for the stands. The diehards stayed. And boy, were they treated to something special.
The Broncos went down to score a touchdown, and get a second two-point conversion. On the next Giant drive, Dart threw an interception to Justin Strand, a play many the day after pointed to as the turning point in the game which set Denver up at the Giant 18. Denver scored four plays later, to make it 24-26. The Broncos defense stepped up and got a stop, and the offense went down and scored a touchdown, a Nix 18-yard run to put the Broncos up 30-26.
Then Dart got the ball, drove the Giants inside the one, all due to one of the most bogus pass interference calls I’ve ever seen on Riley Moss. Dart runs it in for a 32-30 lead with 37 seconds left.
Bo Nix proceeded to lead one of the most ballsy drives. A 29-yard pass over the middle to Marvin Mims, a five-yard penalty on New York, and a 21 yard pass from Nix to Sutton which was installed on Saturday, and was the first live rep of the play set the Broncos up for a 39-yard Wil Lutz field goal. Game over. Pandemonium. One of the best comebacks in NFL history. The Broncos set NFL history as the first team in history to score 33 points after being shut out in the first three quarters. Bo Nix made history by having two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter. ESPN says Nix is the first player to do that in any quarter.
