Allen Unleashed: Bills Outlast Bucs in a 76-Point Shootout

November 17, 2025

The 1PM window featured a battle of two playoff minded teams coming off big losses in week 10. Buffalo was dismantled by a Miami team who all but officially mailed it in for the season and Tampa lost a tight one against the surging Patriots.

Buffalo welcomed Gabe Davis back into the lineup and, while he only had a few grabs throughout the game, came through in clutch spots when Josh Allen needed him to move the sticks. Allen spread his nineteen completions to ten different teammates as he ran his stats up to 317 yards and 3 scores. He apparently didn’t feel like that would be enough and added 40 yards and 3 more touchdowns on the ground. Allen was back to being a human wrecking ball out there. More importantly, he was back to manipulating the pocket and finding openings with his arm. Per Next Gen Stats, a quarterback has only rushed and passed for 3+ touchdowns twice in NFL history. Josh Allen is responsible for BOTH times it happened with him accomplishing this feat first in a regular season game last season against the Rams. I can only imagine the frustration from the Bucs defense as they were tasked with taking on baby Josh Allen last week in Drake Maye, and the real Josh Allen this week.

Credit their coaching, Tampa must have taken notice as to how the Dolphins attacked Buffalo last week with Achane running wild. They used their own rushing attack spear headed by Sean Tucker and Rachaad White. The former had himself a DAY against the Bills and ran up to 106 yards on 19 carries with 2 touchdowns on the ground and another touchdown through the air. Rachaad White was no bum either, adding 50 additional yards of his own to the ground attack. We identified the ground game as a key component to being the difference in victory for either team, which is funny because the Bucs ran at will but it was their passing attack that held them back. Mayfield threw for 173 yards with only one score, but he also lowered the boom multiple times while rushing his way to a touchdown. Baker was doing everything he could to keep up with the high octane Buffalo offense, but Allen was able to keep up until they eventually pulled away.

This matchup featured 76 total points scored and nine lead changes which tied for the second most in NFL history. The Bills took the lead and didn’t look back as they secured the 44-32 victory. What’s amazing to note is how Baker Mayfield is doing all of this without Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Bucky Irving. Tampa Bay took the loss but Baker is single handedly keeping the Buccaneers relevant and in the race while their injured stars work back to full health. The schedule won’t ease up just yet for them as they’ll take on yet another quarterback with his eyes on an MVP in Matthew Stafford and the Rams.
